The inspiration for Wavy came from the irregular layers of travertine terrace found in Yellowstone National Park. The set's design, reminiscent of a bird in flight, is quiet yet alive, mirroring the tranquility of nature. The innovative handles, developed to fit comfortably in the hand, unfold like a water lily, leading the user to an instantaneous world of tranquility.

Wavy was created using the slip-casting technique, a process that involves creating clay positives and plaster molds, casting with slips, and firing the finished pieces twice. Despite the complex process, Patricia Wong aimed to achieve beautiful forms with a quick and easy manufacturing process. None of the molds created for the set exceeded four parts, reflecting the designer's commitment to simplicity and efficiency.

Wavy is not just a tea set; it's an interactive experience. The cup can be held in different ways depending on the size of the user's palm, offering a sense of warmth and peacefulness. The project, which started in October 2011 in Providence, Rhode Island, and finished in January 2012, has been featured in Modern Decoration Home Magazine and numerous sites online since its launch.
